Digi Sign supplied and installed a double-sided high-brightness digital window display for William Street Dental & Implant Centre in Portadown, creating a prominent digital communication point within the practice's street-facing window.

The project also included the supply and installation of a 4K digital signage media player to an additional screen the practice already owned, allowing that display to be brought into their managed digital signage setup rather than unnecessarily replacing it.

The challenge

William Street Dental & Implant Centre has a prominent street-facing practice in Portadown and wanted to make better use of its window frontage for digital communication.

A conventional television is rarely suitable for this type of application. Once positioned behind glass, standard displays can struggle against daylight, reflections and changing external conditions.

The practice therefore required a purpose-built high-brightness display capable of presenting clear digital content towards the street.

They also had another existing screen that could still be put to good use if it could be connected to a suitable digital signage system.

Double-sided high-brightness window display

Digi Sign supplied and installed a double-sided high-brightness digital display within the practice window.

The screen provides a professional digital communication platform that can be used for practice information, services, announcements and promotional content.

High-brightness display technology is specifically suited to windows where the screen must compete with natural daylight.

The portrait format also works particularly well for dental and healthcare content, providing a highly visible digital poster-style display without relying on printed material.

Digital content managed through CMS

The digital display is connected to content management software, allowing content to be changed without manually replacing posters or connecting USB drives.

This gives William Street Dental the flexibility to update messages, promote different treatments and services, display practice information and change campaigns whenever required.

Content can be managed digitally while the screen remains permanently installed within the window.

Upgrading an existing screen

The project also provided an opportunity to make better use of another screen that William Street Dental already owned.

Rather than replacing a working display, Digi Sign supplied and fitted a dedicated 4K digital signage media player.

This gave the existing screen the additional functionality required for managed digital signage while extending the useful life of the hardware already installed.

It is an approach we regularly consider when assessing a digital signage project. If an existing screen is suitable for the application, upgrading it can often make more sense than replacing it.

Digital signage for dental and healthcare practices

Digital signage gives dental practices, clinics and other healthcare providers a flexible way to communicate with patients and people passing their premises.

Window displays can be used to promote services and treatments, while internal screens can provide patient information, announcements, health advice or practice updates.

CMS software allows this information to be changed centrally as often as required.

Choosing the right screen for a window

Brightness is one of the most important considerations when installing a digital display behind glass.

A screen that looks bright indoors can become difficult to see once sunlight and reflections are introduced.

Purpose-built high-brightness and ultra-high-brightness displays are designed for these environments and provide substantially better visibility than ordinary consumer televisions.

Selecting the right screen for the location is therefore just as important as the content being displayed.

The result

William Street Dental now has a prominent double-sided high-brightness digital display within its Portadown frontage, controlled through digital signage CMS software.

An additional existing screen was also retained and upgraded with a 4K media player, giving the practice greater use of hardware it already owned.

The project demonstrates how Digi Sign can combine new specialist display technology with existing equipment to create a practical and centrally managed digital signage solution.
