LCD video wall or fine-pitch LED?

Both can give you a large picture. The choice usually comes down to the gaps between panels, custom sizing, brightness and how close people stand.

An LCD video wall (tiled commercial panels):

  • Has thin, visible borders between panels (narrow, but not zero)
  • Suits regular indoor grids in reception, retail or control rooms
  • Works well for closer indoor viewing when thin borders are acceptable
  • Has indoor commercial brightness; our Allsee 55-inch walls are 500 cd/m² IPS
  • Is built from fixed panel sizes, such as 55 inches, in landscape or portrait layouts
  • Is often the practical choice when a regular grid and close viewing are the priority

A fine-pitch LED wall (modular cabinets):

  • Has no borders between modules
  • Suits seamless pictures, custom widths and heights, and creative shapes
  • Uses a pixel pitch matched to how far away people stand
  • Has its brightness chosen for the room, or for outdoor use, which needs a different specification
  • Is built from cabinets combined to fit the measured space
  • Is usually a larger project, chosen when a seamless picture or bespoke size matters

When LCD usually fits

Choose an LCD video wall when you want a tiled commercial display indoors, people will view it up close, and thin borders are acceptable. Mounting alignment, service access, power and signal distribution are all part of the plan. Our LCD walls can take a 4K source through an HDMI daisy chain; the finished picture also depends on the panel layout and processing, which we confirm with you.

When fine-pitch LED usually fits

Choose LED when you need a picture without panel borders, a size that does not match a standard LCD grid, or a creative format such as a curve, corner wrap or suspended strip. LCD video walls from Allsee

Our commercial LCD video walls use Allsee tiled panels designed for indoor business use.

Current ranges include:

  • 55-inch LCD video wall displays (TL55N2): 1.8 mm combined border between panels, 2.6 mm between picture areas, 500 cd/m² IPS, HDMI daisy chain that accepts a 4K source, landscape or portrait, 24/7 commercial duty and a 3-year warranty
  • 55-inch ultra-narrow bezel LCD video walls (TL55S2): 0.44 mm border per edge (0.88 mm combined), with the same 500 cd/m² IPS panel, daisy chain, orientation options, 24/7 duty and 3-year warranty

LED video walls from Dicolor

Digi Sign is the integration partner for Dicolor LED across the UK and Ireland. Indoor fine-pitch LED walls are designed around your exact width, height and viewing distance rather than chosen from a fixed list of sizes.

Indoor fine-pitch ranges include the MS-03, HA-S01 and HA-C COB series. Outdoor and rental ranges are separate, and an exposed outdoor site always needs an outdoor-rated product. We confirm pitch, brightness, cabinets, processing and safe access after the site survey.

Controllers, content and software

A video wall is more than its panels. Controllers, signal distribution, playback and a content plan decide whether the wall stays useful after handover.

  • Signal and processing: LCD walls can use a daisy chain from a planned source, while LED walls need processing sized to the cabinet layout
  • Playback: media players or built-in platforms matched to the type of content and how you want to update it
  • Content software: ScreenZeno, MySignagePortal or DSD for uploading content, scheduling and managing one screen or several, where the screens and players support it
  • Design support: Zoe can prepare on-brand layouts at the right resolution, while Raphael and Corey handle the technical delivery and aftercare

Agree who creates updates, who approves them and when out-of-date material comes down. Any recurring software fees are set out in your quotation.

Survey, installation and the Moneymore showroom

We survey before we specify. The free survey checks viewing distance, ambient light, wall structure, cable routes, power, ventilation and service access. Raphael and Corey handle the technical delivery and installation, and Zoe helps with content and marketing where needed.

LCD video wall or LED video wall: which should I choose?

LCD suits a regular indoor grid where people view it up close and thin borders between panels are acceptable. LED suits a seamless picture, custom sizes or creative shapes. We compare both against the same wall size, viewing distance, content and installation.

Will an LCD video wall have visible joins?

Yes. LCD panels have borders. On our 55-inch ranges, that means either a 1.8 mm combined border (TL55N2) or an ultra-narrow 0.88 mm combined border (TL55S2). If your design needs a picture without panel borders, consider a Dicolor LED wall.

Outdoor video wall or indoor?

Indoor walls and outdoor façades need different specifications. Weather exposure, brightness, IP rating, structure and electrical supply must all suit the location.
